This Lent 2020 we had three sessions of Prayer Talks. We came together in person and online to hear more ways in which we could pray open to new ideas and paths of prayer. Below are some of the talks recorded to continue to inspire your prayer life. See videos below...

Method of Centering Prayer:
1. Choose a sacred word as the symbol of your intention to consent to God's presence and action within.
2. Sitting comfortably and with eyes closed, settle briefly and silently introduce the sacred word as the symbol of your consent to God's presence and action within.
3. When engaged with your thoughts*, return ever-so-gently to the sacred word.
4. At the end of the prayer period, remain in silence with eyes closed for a couple of minutes.
*thoughts include body sensations, feelings, images and reflections.

Method of Lectio Divina:
1. Pick a passage of scripture - psalms are a good place to start e.g. 23 or 139
2. Read s l o w l y !
3. Pause
4. Read again s l o w l y ! And allow a word or phrase to jump our at you
5. Allow God to speak through the words
6. Rest and take in what God is saying
