Fuelled by indignation at the injustice and poverty in the world, the Social Justice Group at the moment supports two main charities - a children's home in Harare, Zimbabwe and the wives of peasant farmers struggling to re-establish themselves after years of civil war in the Sudan.  Originally the women spent hours grinding meal for their daily bread.  The SJG bought them an electric grinder which does the work in minutes and leaves them time for for education, child care and working in the fields.  They have now started a women's tailoring project and the SJG is helping to buy them sewing machines.

The SJG runs fund-raising events which not only raise money for our charities but also prove a popular social focus for members of the congregation.  So far we have had a curry banquet, a joyous Caribbean evening, a harvest supper and a murder mystery evening with dinner served by members of our junior church.  Working with the SJG is a happy and enlivening experience and new members are always welcome.
